Introduction

Welcome to the "Pseudo" curriculum of "Celebrating Cells."

Throughout this wiki one is exposed to a cell-based curriculum in a different form than traditional means. The essence of this curriculum are the essential questions always challenging the thought processes of the child. Unlike a lecture-style course, this curriculum mirrors non-traditional learning by using flipped classroom, bring your own device also known as BYOD, student response systems, and learning through web-based modules. In addition, this course can be completed in a wide range of styles depending on the preference of the teacher. In other words, teachers can look at the big picture and then dissect each part or can view each piece and see how it fits into the entire picture. In all, the direction in which one travels does not matter because the final learning outcomes will measure the same despite the direction of one's journey.

This curriculum depicts web-based learning and interaction, but does not suggest it is the number one way to teach the objectives. In fact, prior to implementing this curriculum there will be a committee that is set-up to achieve the following tasks:

  • Research modern advancements in the field of cells as well as in the integration of technology

  • Create a group of teachers that have been educated in writing curriculum correctly (or perhaps provide professional development in this area)

  • Develop a group of juniors or seniors (students) to evaluate the previous curriculum relating to the pros/cons of the content and ask for input and/or improvement

  • Develop cross-curriculum interaction in order to provide rigor and relevance relating to curriculum

  • Analyze data in order to measure the change of learning outcomes from traditional vs. non-traditional learning

In summary, the curriculum will be a "live" document where changes can and should be made in order to maximize the effectiveness of learning. In fact, this curriculum will not be placed on a shelf, but will be effectively implemented and adusted when and where needed. It is time to be a product of change rather than a product of consistency. This curriculum hopefully depicts 21st century learning and eliminates the disconnect between the learner and the learning.
